How to choose the right print size
Viewing distance, photo ratio and where the print will hang decide the best size. A few quick tips before you order.
October 1, 20261. Where will the photo be seen?
- Albums, journals, inside cards: 10×15 cm or 13×18 cm is plenty.
- Desks and shelves: 15×21 cm to 20×30 cm.
- Living-room walls: 40×60 cm and up; for a large wall, consider a multi-panel wall cluster.
Tip: tape a sheet of paper the same size on the wall and step back a few paces to get a feel for it.
2. Photo ratio vs. print size
| Source | Ratio | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Camera (DSLR, mirrorless) | 3:2 | Matches 10×15, 20×30, 30×45, 40×60, 50×75 cm — no cropping |
| Phone | 4:3 | Close to 13×18, 15×21 cm — a little is trimmed on the long side |
| Square photo | 1:1 | Every rectangular size needs cropping — choose the crop carefully |
If the photo ratio differs from the print ratio, part of the photo is cropped. When ordering, drag the crop frame to choose what to keep — the print matches your frame exactly.
3. Is the photo sharp enough to print big?
Bigger prints need more pixels. The website calculates this and warns you when a photo may look blurry at the chosen size. See also Preparing your files for great prints.
